Revive the slide

We’ve all heard about libraries getting rid of books, and those of us who work and study at universities have witnessed the gradual encroachment of bean bags, comfy chairs and computer screens into the space once occupied by journals. What is less visible is the gradual disappearance of slide collections. This year I’ve witnessed two massive image libraries slide their way towards transparency oblivion. Some were retrieved. This is my modest attempt to remember another way of viewing – and recuperate these images (and some anonymous photographer’s copywork) from the dustbin. Not sure what Benjamin and Baudrillard would make of it all, but this bit of fun is viewable in full via my Instagram handle @uk_frederick

As they used to say in libraries… check it out.
